MSI expands its SSD offering with the SPATIUM M480 PRO

SPATIUM M480 PRO is the latest solid state drive that MSI has added to its storage offering. You already know that most of the big PC manufacturers (ASUS, GIGA, HP…) have been encouraged to market their own solutions and MSI has a good catalog of SSDs for any task.

The SPATIUM M480 PRO arrives to reinforce units connected to PCIe 4.0, the currently dominant interface until Gen5 appears massively. There seems to be no rush and the giants (WD, Samsung, Kingston…) have delayed launches. Really, the Gen5 only take advantage of its capacity in the latest Intel and AMD platforms and obviously, they are still in the minority. In any case, say that MSI has a SPATIUM M570 Gen5 model.

Getting into the matter, MSI’s new SSDs are offered in the M.2 2280 form factor, the compact size form factor that is leading the way in consumer storage. They include high-density 3D NAND memories, a Phison E18 controller, DRAM cache buffer and SLC cache of which no specific amount has been mentioned, and support for the NVMe 1.4 protocol.

These drives are capable of reaching almost the interface limit in performance, with sequential read speeds of up to 7,400 Mbytes read and 7,000 MB/sec writes . All SPATIUM products support a wide range of data error correction features, including LPDC ECC and E2E Data Protection, providing high TBW (Terabytes Written) for increased durability and longevity.

The manufacturer provides additional support through a software solution integrated into MSI Center that monitors the status of the drive, the capacity used, the operating temperature or allows you to update its firmware. Additionally, MSI has partnered with Actiphy, a data backup solution to allow users who purchase and install one of their SSDs to save and transfer their files.

MSI markets the SPATIUM M480 PRO in three storage capacities: 1, 2 and 4 Tbytes . and with a 5-year limited warranty.
