Reservations for the Logitech G CLOUD, a broadcast-oriented console, open

Logitech has opened reservations in Spain for its G CLOUD portable console, which is oriented, as its name indicates, to the execution of video games served through cloud platforms. This means that the games, at least considering only the main function, would not be installed locally on the device, but would be made available via streaming through services such as NVIDIA GeForce Now or Xbox Game Pass .

The approach towards streaming video games means that the Logitech G CLOUD does not use an x86 processor, but one based on ARM and with Android 11 as the operating system. The SoC is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G that is accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of data storage expandable via microSD card .

The IPS LCD type screen, with a size of seven inches , multitouch and supports a native resolution of Full HD (1,920 × 1,080 pixels), an aspect ratio of 16: 9, a refresh rate of 60 hertz and a maximum brightness of 450 nits. For audio, stereo speakers driven by a high-voltage smart amplifier and two microphones with echo cancellation and noise suppression with high-quality codec and DSP are provided. It also has the typical 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack.

At the control level we find a fairly standard device that follows the layout of the Xbox controllers for the A, B, X and Y buttons. For the rest, there are two analog sticks, a digital crosshead, two option buttons, two digital triggers (the front ones), two analog triggers (the rear ones) and start, G and volume control buttons, which are added to the logical switch. Regarding control of sensation and feedback, it implements linear haptics, a six-axis IMU sensor and an ambient light sensor.

As a connection, it has Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual band at 2.4 and 5 gigahertz along with Bluetooth 5.1. The 6,000mAh rechargeable battery is made of lithium polymer (Li-Po) and offers a range of up to 12 hours. As an interface to recharge the battery and transmit data via cable, it uses USB Type-C.

The dimensions of the device are 256.84 mm in length, 117.21 mm in width, 32.95 mm in height and its weight is about 463 grams. In addition to services such as NVIDIA GeForce Now or Xbox Game Pass, to which you must subscribe, the user can use Steam Link to stream from their PC over the local network. The Xbox app is also officially supported.

The Logitech G CLOUD will be launched on the market on May 22, but it can already be reserved through the manufacturer’s website at the price of 369 euros .
