Rufus 4.1, new version of the best bootable USB software

Rufus 4.1 is the new version of one of the best applications to create bootable external drives for operating system installation, software testing or troubleshooting.

A very useful type of software that you surely have in your arsenal of tools and that allows you to create bootable USB drives with Windows, Linux and other operating systems. What’s new in the release includes creating MS-DOS drives via download of Microsoft binaries or fixing a UEFI:NTFS incompatibility with the Windows Dev Kit 2023 platform, as highlights.

Minor changes to an already outstanding application (in our opinion the best when it comes to handling Windows installations ) that allows you to download ISO images directly from Microsoft, making Rufus an all-in-one program for clean installations and system maintenance operating on PCs.

In addition, it has some additional tricks up its sleeve when it comes to creating installation units for Windows 11 and that exceed Microsoft’s impositions (some incomprehensible that penalize its adoption) such as the possibility of creating local accounts, disabling BitLocker and others such as TPM and Secure Boot. You also have the option of creating windows to go , Windows To Go.

Rufus 4.1

Rufus 4.1 is free and open source software. It is available on their website and also on GitHub. It works for software from various platforms (Windows, Linux, FreeDos…), but -in my opinion after more than a decade of use- it is unbeatable when we deal with Windows . and it is especially recommended if we are going to install the operating system on machines with the new UEFI and/or GPT partitions, because not all alternative tools are capable of performing the media correctly in this type of format.
