The first sensations that the Genesis Thor 400 RGB transmits to the touch are very good. Its chassis is made of aluminum, and this is noticeable right out of the box. The metallic touch and its solidity are two keys typical of a high-end keyboard, although I must admit that what surprised me the most was its thinness . That thinness creates a fantastic contrast with elevation of the keys, and these in turn look great thanks to the reflection effect that their RGB LED lighting has on the aluminum.

The Genesis Thor 400 RGB has outstanding build quality, and the design is not at all out of place. I really like that minimalist touch that the Polish company has opted for with this keyboard, and the completion of the keys, which seem to “float” on the aluminum chassis , that’s all a success not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for a practical matter, and this makes it much easier, and more comfortable, to clean.

We have a layout that comes entirely in Spanish, which means that includes the «Ñ» and that it has all the keys correctly identified. On the right side, the Genesis Thor 400 RGB presents a wheel that will allow us to regulate the intensity of the RGB LED lighting, and also the volume of the sound, and just to its left we find other function keys that will be of great use to us.

In my case, for example, I usually use those multimedia keys to skip songs and to adjust the volume instantly, without having to minimize anything, or change advantage. It may seem trivial, but in the end it represents a significant time saver, as reduces distractions and interruptions.

Our first contact with the Genesis Thor 400 RGB was very positive, but we still had a long round of tests ahead of us to find out what this keyboard was really capable of delivering. The first litmus test was its installation and configuration, a step that we were able to complete without any problems, since the computer we used, based on Windows 11, recognized it directly as soon as we connected it via USB.

Once connected and identified, the next step is to download and install the dedicated software offered by Genesis through its official website. It did not take more than a few seconds, and as soon as the program was launched we found a very simple and discreet, but intuitive interface and with all the options that we will need to customize the RGB LED lighting, and to create different macros and user profiles. We can take those profiles with us, thanks to its built-in memory.

Generally speaking, although the software interface is quite modest, it includes all the key functions that we will need to customize the Genesis Thor 400 RGB. At the same time, it is important to note that this simplicity makes the application much easier to use, and that represents a clear added value.

As those of you who read us regularly will know, in my day to day I use a standard mechanical keyboard, but but I had no problem adapting to the low-profile keys of the Genesis Thor 400 RGB. Thanks to its elevator feet, the position of my hands hardly had to change compared to my usual keyboard, and the wrist rest does its job perfectly.

I wanted to focus the tests on titles where the speed of response, and the correct interpretation of the different commands, can make the difference between a victory and a defeat. For this reason, I have chosen League of Legends, a title in which the keystrokes to execute the different abilities is key, especially when we want to execute quick combos, and I have also included others such as DOOM Eternal and Battlefield 2042.

The Genesis Thor 400 RGB has scratched at a high level throughout. I have not registered any delay in the keystrokes or any type of error or problem. All my movements, all my actions, were perfectly registered , and with the speed necessary to achieve the desired effect. This can make a difference in games, especially those of a competitive nature, that is, it can help you improve your results. Keep in mind that you should not expect a miracle, after all, you are the one who has to have a minimum of skill, but a good keyboard will help you develop it.
